• Welcome to The Cave of Dragonflies forums, where the smallest bugs live alongside the strongest dragons.

Guests are not able to post messages or even read certain areas of the forums. Now, that's boring, don't you think? Registration, on the other hand, is simple, completely free of charge, and does not require you to give out any personal information at all. As soon as you register, you can take part in some of the happy fun things at the forums such as posting messages, voting in polls, sending private messages to people and being told that this is where we drink tea and eat cod.

Of course I'm not forcing you to do anything if you don't want to, but seriously, what have you got to lose? Five seconds of your life?

Gah, something I said on the Internet got taken the wrong way again. That seems to be happening a lot lately. Anyway... I wasn't saying I would try writing random junk that doesn't even fit together just to get to 50,000 next year. Probably should've put a "but I'm not going to do that" or...

    NaNoWriMo 2009

I don't think I've ever written 2000 in an hour... I usually don't even manage 2000 in a day. The most I've ever written in one day was around 2800 words. I probably type fast enough to do it, though... so if I was just typing random words instead of part of a story, I wouldn't have any...

    NaNoWriMo 2009

Well, I guess I'm officially not going to make it. Stopped just short of 37,000 and lost interest in doing any more writing... haven't gotten anything written over the weekend, even though I had no school all week so there wasn't anything else taking up any time. It'd be completely impossible...

    NaNoWriMo 2009

I started out today with around 34,400 words and stopped, after finishing the very long "lunch break" chapter, at 36,800-something. Which means I somehow managed to write 2400+ words in around 8 hours, and passed by two daily target wordcounts; I'm around the point I should've been at the end...

    NaNoWriMo 2009

As expected, the DC trip ended up making me fall way behind on this thing... I was around 33,000 by the end of Saturday and I only just went over 33,333 today (so I'm caught up with... where I should've been at the start of the weekend.) I'll be almost 5000 words behind within the hour. But...

    NaNoWriMo 2009

Somehow managed to have another "get lazy and do next-to-nothing" day... but then I randomly started working on Zack vs. Optimus Prime again between 11:30 PM and just now. I'm not finished with that one yet, but I'm now (finally) over 25,000 words... which still makes me a full day behind...

The Burger King has no known fighting skills. But that's only because he's a fast food mascot--they're never going to show BK or Ronald McDonald or someone like that actually fighting in their commercials, regardless of what abilities they might have. And we know that fast food mascots at...

    NaNoWriMo 2009

It's mostly just "let's" (which he adds the -a for every time in the games... has Mario ever said "let's go" without it coming out as "let's-a go"?) and "don't" that get the -a for so far. And probably "it's" if he ever says "it's" sometime later. I'll try to remember not to overdo it in...

    NaNoWriMo 2009

In a random burst of "actually writing before 10 PM"-ness, I just finished Quina vs. Kirby. And once again, goofy stuff happens in the pre-fight section... this time they're having an eating contest, with some help from the Burger King's ability to magically generate food. Silly Dedede... you...

    NaNoWriMo 2009

Was insanely lazy about this yesterday. I got hit by writer's block at the beginning of Scar vs. Dot and somehow managed to do... absolutely no writing. Unless writing the pre-fight stuff at 1 AM counts, but generally I count everything I write before I go to bed as part of the previous day...

    NaNoWriMo 2009

Finished Ness vs. Frankenstein's Monster surprisingly early (actually got done around 5 PM, which is... waaaay earlier than I usually even start writing.) But... despite the super-long pre-fight chunk (because I didn't want a whole extra chapter just for "everyone wakes up and has breakfast")...

    NaNoWriMo 2009

Just finished a little "intermission" chapter between matches 8 and 9, which (in addition to showing a bit of what the fighters are up to between days) is a great way for me to pad my wordcount. Not quite into the 18,000s just yet, but I'll probably reach Wednesday's target wordcount once I get...

    NaNoWriMo 2009

Done with Riku vs. Terminator, which brings me up to 16631 words. Which is not far off from Tuesday's target wordcount and a lot more than I expected to get out of that chapter... I guess the longer-than-usual pre-fight parts made up for the very short fight, though the fight itself did end up...

    NaNoWriMo 2009

Though the whole "site being down" thing means I have absolutely no idea what my wordcount is, I can say that I'm finished with Mewtwo vs. Wolverine. I thought I wouldn't get much work done today, but thanks to some Advil (to get rid of that nasty headache I had earlier) and boredom, I managed...

    NaNoWriMo 2009

26,000 already!?!? Holy crap! Anyway... I finished Burger King vs. Super Macho Man last night before I went to bed, and then today I finally got Celes vs. King Dedede finished (about half an hour ago.) I ended up including his partially-mechanical hammer from Brawl, but since he uses a...

    NaNoWriMo 2009

Oddly, I seem to have run into some writer's block on Celes vs. Dedede. I know who I want to win, but I can't think of how to get to that point. I did finish the pre-fight stuff, though. Instead, I went ahead and started writing Burger King vs. Super Macho Man. I've actually switched this...

    NaNoWriMo 2009

Yeah, I tried to avoid having too many one-sided matches; I re-randomized the matches most of the time if I got one that was just completely unfair (like if a smashing-buildings-with-sheer-power type like Ichigo or Goku got matched up with an absolute wimp like Meowth.) There were a handful...

    NaNoWriMo 2009

Hmm... I actually hadn't thought of that. I guess I could post Round 1's fights (though I'm not going to post any past that... because it would reveal who's going to win their matches in Round 1, and I'd rather keep people guessing up until the point when they actually read the thing.) Some of...

    NaNoWriMo 2009

Just went over 10,000... and I haven't come close to actually finishing Celes vs. Dedede yet (I've only got the pre-fight stuff done.) It's kinda hard to believe that I'm already a fifth of the way done with this! Well, a fifth of the way done with November's chunk of it, anyway. It'll...

    NaNoWriMo 2009

Holy crap, someone actually wants to read my stuff! I think I'll start uploading it somewhere, probably fanfiction.net, toward the end of November--I probably won't wait until it's completely done, because I doubt I'll be finished with every match (there will be 63 of them, plus maybe a "what...
